Developer platforms
and the products
built on them.
I'm Chaitanya, a software engineer with 15 years of experience, the last ten at Netflix on studio and content-production systems. Most of my recent work starts with a gap that slows several teams down and ends as shared infrastructure other engineers can build on.
Selected work
A few things I've built, and what happened to them after.
-
01
A paved path for desktop apps
Netflix had a well-worn path for shipping web apps and none for desktop. I built the build, code-signing, notarization and auto-update pipeline for Electron, generalized it with peer teams, and turned it into a 16-package framework behind a single scaffolding command. It's now a standard application type in the company's project CLI, with four teams building on it.
-
02
Dependable large-file transfer
Re-engineered browser-based upload in Content Hub for multi-terabyte assets and single submissions of more than 300,000 files, one of the platform's most failure-prone workflows, used by production teams and partners.
-
03
Typed interfaces for orchestration pipelines
Delivered GraphQL schema generation, publication and validation, so pipeline interfaces are typed and verifiable instead of based on convention. Earlier, built Mailbox, a multi-step workflow mechanism that preceded the orchestration pipelines now owned by a platform team.
-
04
Vendor asset delivery
A desktop application that delivers assets to vendor facilities automatically by asset and workflow type, replacing manual downloads that could take hours of someone's day.
-
05
Netflix's first in-house subtitling tool
Built the first version, which supported localization during Netflix's international expansion and has since been carried forward by other teams.
Experience
Owning problems end to end, from requirements to long-term support.

Studio Orchestrator 2023 – Present
- Designed and maintain an internal Electron framework: SSO, federated GraphQL client, telemetry, structured logging, type-safe IPC, auto-updates and signed cross-platform builds.
- Contributed to an application platform that lets product teams build, version and deploy UI apps; about 200 run on it today.
- Migrated a legacy settings app onto the platform with AI-assisted tooling in considerably less time than planned; it became a reference example for the platform's maintenance model.
Content Hub 2018 – 2023
- Content operations platform used by a few thousand people monthly. Worked on large-file upload, Mailbox, and the requests workflow that brings partner content into the studio pipeline.
Across teams
- Conducted 50+ technical interviews; designed the UI problem-solving exercise and rubric, and keep recalibrating them for AI-assisted work.
- Mentored new engineers; on a team with no dedicated designer, defined requirements and made product and UX decisions directly.
